10 Awesome Holiday Markets in North County

The Clark - Gilman Team November 22, 2018

Who’s ready to get some holiday shopping done? If it’s time to start tackling that shopping list, then there’s no better way to do it than at a North County Holiday Market. Why fight the crowds at the mall or sit by yourself in front of your computer when you can get in the holiday spirit while shopping for loved ones? Listen to some live music, indulge in holiday treats, and pick up one-of-kind-gifts for your favorite people (or pets!). Here’s a rundown of 10 of the most awesome holiday markets happening in our area.

Santa’s Coming Arts, Crafts & Vintage Market

(Nov 23-25) After gorging on Thanksgiving leftovers, head over to Bate’s Nut Farm in Valley Center for their largest Arts and Crafts Fair of the year. More than 100 artisans will be selling handmade and vintage items. Even Santa will be there!

Merry Makers Fair

(Nov 24-25) The Merry Makers Fair is a two-day holiday pop-up market in Oceanside that features handcrafted and artisanal wares. Find clothing, jewelry, candles, art, succulents, glasswork and much more.

Holiday at the Races

(Nov 25) Round out your Thanksgiving weekend by checking out Holiday at the Races at Del Mar Racing. In addition to an awesome pop-up shop with local vendors, there will be music, arts, dancing, and even free mini-spa treatments throughout the day.

Santa’s Village San Marcos

(Dec 1) Come for breakfast and stay all day! Santa’s Village in San Marcos is an annual event that features arts and crafts vendors, free kids’ activities, food, entertainment, and, of course, Santa. Stick around for the holiday tree lighting at 5:30pm.

Winter Wonderland Festival

(Dec 1) The North Pole comes to Escondido for the Winter Wonderland Festival. There will be real snow, live reindeer, and a visit from Santa. Browse the wares from local businesses and enjoy some food and drink while you’re there.

Winterfest

(Dec 2) Enjoy the sights, sounds, and scents of winter at Vista’s Winterfest. In addition to a holiday marketplace stuffed with treasures, you can take a horse-drawn carriage ride, decorate cupcakes, listen to carolers and a mariachi band, watch a holiday movie, chat with Santa, and even adopt a new pet!

Oceanside Tree Lighting and Art Walk

(Dec 7) Head to Oceanside for the First Friday Art Walk, which will feature a tree-lighting ceremony and lots of holiday shopping. There will also be artist presentations, performances, and cocktail tastings.

Merry Everything Holiday Craft Show

(Dec 9) Add the Merry Everything Holiday Craft Show in San Marcos to your list of places to hit this season. The market features handcrafted vendors, local food, and performances by the Mission Hills Instrumental Musicians.

Queen Bee Market

(Dec 14-15) If you’d made it this far into the month and you’re still not finished shopping, then head straight to the Queen Bee Market at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Shop home décor, accessories, clothing, paper arts, vintage items, furniture, and much more! Find something for everyone on your list.

Art of the Holiday

(Through Dec 24) Finally, you can shop hand-crafted and affordable artful gifts every day until Christmas Eve at the Art of the Holiday in Fallbrook. Admission is free.
